Upcoming Art Shows
Gutsy Gallery Wanted!
Spike is looking for a gallery to show her political satire series, “American Portrait” in 2014. Liberal, controversial, in-your-face paintings and cartoons which illustrate how ridiculous things have become in this country.
“American Portrait” debut at the first Canoga Park Artwalk at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church, 7304 Jordan Ave, Canoga Park, May 16 from 6 – 10 p.m
Several of the pieces from this new series will be shown for the first time at Emerson’s “Justice for All” art show.
Madrid Theatre
Spike will be showing her beach paintings during the month of July at the Madrid Theatre, 21622 Sherman Way, Canoga Park, CA 91303. Reception date is July 18 from 6-8 p.m. as part of the Canoga Park Artwalk.
Reseda
Spike is curating an art show about Reseda at Continental Art Supplies on August 3 from 6-9 p.m. She will also be one of the artists in the show. Continental Art Supplies, 7041 Reseda Blvd, Reseda, CA 91335
“8”
Spike is producing a staged reading of “8” by Academy-award winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk, J. Edgar). This is designed to demystify the debate around marriage equality by chronicling the landmark trial of Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Hollingsworth v. Perry) and will be presented just around the time the Supreme Court makes its decision about Prop 8 and DOMA. Performances will be at 8 pm on June 20, 21 and 22 at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church, 7304 Jordan Ave, Canoga Park. Suggested donation is $15. Advanced reservations are recommended: eventsemerson@yahoo.com.
