Affordable Health Care

After Spike found out she had breast cancer, her fear and terror were magnified by the fact that she didn’t have health insurance. After learning that she qualified for PCIP (Pre-existing Insurance Plan) through the Affordable Care Act, Spike wrote an op-ed piece in the Los Angeles Times, outing herself as another uninsured middle class American, while apologizing to her president at the same time for turning her back on him. This created a national debate. Spike has dedicated herself to learning all that she can about the history of affordable health care in America. She created a new blog, “Health Hazards” to take readers through her journey, and she continues to give interviews, telling her story. She will be going to Washington DC in March to do nonstop interviews while the Supreme Court decides on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act.
